New Orleans-Based Organization Featured in New York Times Set to Host First National Convening
Local racial and economic nonprofit consulting firm Beloved Community will host a multi-sector gathering dedicated to deepening DEI strategies in New Orleans this fall.
NEW ORLEANS - Leading racial and economic equity nonprofit consulting firm Beloved Community will host Sustaining Change, its first national convening, this fall. Sustaining Change is a national multi-sector gathering dedicated to advancing equity and anti-racist leadership. Participants will collaborate with a community of practice committed to creating transformative change across a variety of sectors including: education, healthcare and hospitality.
Beloved Community helps organizations develop realistic, data-driven, tangible and measurable plans to create more equitable workplaces. Earlier this year, the organization was featured in a New York Times article about reimagining what diversity, equity and inclusion should look like. During the event, attendees will examine DEI strategies for both organizational change and personal leadership; engage in spaces designed for recharging and reconnecting to hope; and review concrete strategies to decolonize data and research.
“Sustaining Change'' exemplifies the Thich Nhat Hanh phrase “the larger your beloved community, the more you can accomplish in the world.” We’re excited about bringing together leaders across the region and from different sectors to build their capacity for sustaining change in their equity journey”, said Rhonda J. Broussard, Founder and CEO of Beloved Community.
Sustaining Change is set to take place October 24th-27th in New Orleans at the Hilton St. Charles. The event will bring together leaders from local organizations such as Agenda for Children, BENOLA Inc., Crescent City Corps, and the Louisiana Public Health Institute. Keynote speakers include Dr. Thema Bryant, Blair Imani, Layla F Saad and the Kingmakers of Oakland.
Beloved Community’s Director of Education & Programming, Dr. Nicole Caridad Ralston said, “We are thrilled to be celebrating 5 years as an organization with others who are dedicated to advancing racial equity in their workplaces, schools, and leadership! Sustaining Change is going to be packed with good vibes, incredible keynote speakers & sessions, and amazing food - it is New Orleans, after all!”
Together, guests will deepen DEI strategies for both organizational change and personal leadership through panels, professional development, and workshops.
