Facilitator Certification Program

Beloved Community’s Racial Equity Facilitator Certification Program is designed for individuals or organizations who are looking to apply diversity, equity and inclusion facilitator best practices to consultancies or workplaces. In this certification you will learn how to: 

  1. Understand Beloved’s Facilitator Philosophy and apply to your work

  2. Apply diversity, equity and inclusion facilitator best practices to consultancies or workplaces

  3. Deliver diversity, equity and inclusion content

  4. Be equipped to engage in brave conversations across lines of difference that foster understanding and equitable exchanges of lived experience

  5. Reflect on social identities and how it impacts facilitation practices

Prerequisites for this Certification?

  • You will be best set-up for this training if you have foundational knowledge of diversity, equity and inclusion concepts.

  • Individuals who have 2-3 plus years in DEI work and are looking for a brave space to unpack their experiences and hone their skills

  • If you don’t have foundational knowledge of DEI concepts and are looking for a pre-requisite course, please enroll in our online course: Centering Racial Equity & Belongingness

September 8th-11th, 2025

4 half-day sessions from 9:00am-12:30pm CST

This Racial Equity Facilitator Certification Program is best suited for individuals responsible for facilitating internal or external professional development on diversity, equity, and inclusion topics including:

  • Consultants

  • Educators, Educational Leaders, and former K-12 educators wanting to make the pivot to adult education spaces 

  • HR/Employee Engagement/Talent & Culture/Leadership & Development Teams

  • Board chairs/presidents who are being charged with incorporating DEI into the board and need support in facilitating

High-Level Agenda

Each day is focused on four content areas: learn, reflect, apply, and engage.

DAY 1: Who are you as a trainer? 

  • Intro to Beloved; Warm Welcome

  • Reflect on your social identities and how they inform your facilitation/approach to DEI

  • How do you hold space for participants' lived experiences and identities that you do not share?

  • The distinction between facilitator/trainer, presenter, lecturer, etc

  • Goals of facilitation 

    • How do your personal and/or professional values/philosophy influence how you facilitate and what you prioritize in training (i.e. time over discussion, content over people, etc.) like schools of thought for facilitators and trainers

  • Values Identification 

  • Introducing Beloved’s Facilitation Philosophy

    • What is your facilitation philosophy? 

    • What grounds your facilitation pivots, decisions, etc.?

Day 2: Safe Spaces, Brave Spaces  

  • Understanding your own triggers

  • Interrogating power dynamics in the room

  • Exploring facilitator moves specific to racial equity training

  • Interrogating the importance of norm-setting

    • Examples of norms that are community building v. norms that could perpetuate WSC

  • Navigating conflict and sticky situations as a trainer 

Day 3: Facilitator Best Practices

  • Unpacking WSC and anti-racist trainer principles

  • Exploring UDL concepts

  • Facilitator moves (scaffolding, pausing, reading the room, etc.)

  • Building rapport and engagement with your audience 

  • Exploring audience archetypes and case scenarios

  • Belongingness?  (brene brown quote is coming to mind (compassionate accountability)

Day 4: Feedback & Live Practicing/Celebration

  • Exploring feedback tools

    • Giving and receiving feedback 

  • Partner facilitation time

  • Practice and reflection 

  • Completion of trainer series
